What is the best way to lose 40lbs?

A healthy amount of weight to lose is about 1 lb a week (maybe 2 lbs if you are very overweight to begin with). That will put you at losing more like 20 lbs by June. If you are losing more than that, it probably means you are either starving yourself or exercising like crazy, and you probably won't be able to keep up that lifestyle (plus it's unhealthy to not eat and will actually slow down your metabolism). I don't think fad diets like Atkins really work long-term (and the Atikins diet in particular can put you in a state of ketoacidosis and make you sick because you are not eating enough carbs). You just need to practice moderation, cut your portions, and find healthier things to replace the junk in your diet (i.e. eat an apple instead of candy, use whole wheat instead of white bread, drink water instead of soda or juice which are full of empty calories). Exercise is also VERY important. For cardio, start with walking, then progress to speed-walking, then jogging (or ride a bike if your joints are bad). You should do this for 30-60 minutes around 5 times per week. It is also important to do some simple weight-lifting exercises. This will build your muscle, which helps to speed up your metabolism. The only problem with exercise is that it can sometimes make you feel hungry. You need to make sure that you are not canceling out the calories you burn by eating more. Anyway, if you start taking better care of yourself and yet don't seem to be making any progress, remember that it takes time. Also, when you exercise, you will lose fat, but also gain muscle, which weighs more than fat. This may mean that you will not lose weight, even though you're losing fat and looking better. Don't get discouraged! It is more important to be healthy than to look good. I don't think it matters if the main valve is on or off, but I would open the faucets a little. This as the water is heated, it will expand a little, and you want it to have someplace to go. if the freezing didn't burst the pipes, the pressure from heating it probably wont either, but just to be safe. If you leave the main valve on ant the faucets open, then when the ice melts a little the flow will push the chunks out. they may get stuck further up the line, but that will likely be in the warmer part of the house and they will soon melt. when the water just starts flowing a little slowly, let it run for a while and the flow will help melt and flush out the rest of the ice.

Sinus Pain That wont Go Away?

Okay so for the last 4 years I been having what seems to be chronic sinus pressure/pain.I rarely get the whole congestion part but I do get the fatigue,pressure and pain in the ethmoid sinus area and in my temples,ears,and jaw.Occasionally I get it in the cheeks also.About 2 years ago I cat a ct done and it confirmed chronic ethmoid sinusitis and I have a deviated septum but I recently got a ct and it came back clear so I am a little confused.I think i also get tension headaches and tmj along with the sinus pain.I been taking motrin 800 mg,advil sinus congestion and veramyst nasal spray which have not been doing anything.It lasts from the time I wake up until I go to bed.The only time it feels o.k is when Im in the shower and a few minutes after I get out.Oh and my ear feels congested and has pressure in it also.Should I try antibiotics??

Sorry if the question seems basic, but I want to do it right and have never done it before. I also don't want to damage the wall. The mirror will go above the fireplace (I plan to rest the bottom edge on the mantle). The wall is plaster-- I am afraid that if I put a nail in, there might be a long crack in the plaster. Stick with budgies/parakeets. They are low maintenance. They're not as loud as lovebirds. Lovebirds screech loudly. Parakeets can be very social and show their love for you. Not all are like that though. Some are kind of shy or scared. Just accept and love them for who they are. You can learn to finger tame the budgies. Remember to get their wings cut so they don't fly all over the house and hurt themselves. It's true that finches don't like to be handled, as I have 2 of them. They're quieter than the budgies. Budgies can sometimes get a little loud, more so if there's more than 1 bird. Good luck!

I have 4 dogs & have a fruiting pecan nut tree in their backyard enclosure. Although well fed the youngest dog has discovered parts of the nut are edible & now another of my dogs is showing interest in these potentially dangerous thin shelled nuts. I am a licensed child care provider in my home. If you are wondering if you have too much or not enough it might be best to ask your care provider. Personally, for me, the less that parents send with their babies daily the better. I prefer to keep a package of diapers at my house (provided by the parents and I let them know when I'm running low). I buy wipes by the case and don't need parents to send any daily unless the child has a special need such as is allergic to all but one brand. I have had some parents who don't use wipes and send a daily supply of baby washcloths which I use once than place in a plastic bag to send home. I have a large supply of cups of all types, plates, bowls, silverware, and bibs. I prefer parents leave these things at home as I have plenty of everything. That way nothing of theirs is mixed up with anything of mine nor does anything of theirs get left behind. The only thing I need daily for babies is a couple of changes of clothing, outdoor clothing suitable for the weather since we nearly always go outside daily, and any "lovey" they may need for comfort or naps. I prefer all toys to remain at home for several reasons. First, things can get lost or broken. Second, I have a very large and varied supply of toys and supplies for all ages of children from infants to school age children. Lastly, children, especially toddlers, have some sharing issues and it is usually cause for problems when children bring their own personal toys from home. In regards to food and formula, I prefer to have a container of formula left at my house along with 2-3 bottles that stay. If babies are eating jarred food than I like to keep a week's supply of food on hand. After 12 months I provide all food and beverages for the children. All daycare homes and centers have their own way of handling supplies so it's always best to discuss your baby's needs with your care providers. If they are fine with all that stuff coming daily than that's great, but if you don't need to bring it than it could save you some time and effort. Most of my families have a bag packed for daycare that is different in content than their normal diaper bag they might take with them if they are headed off to eat dinner out or visit grandma. ADDED: In regards to blankets, unless the child has a specific one he/she likes to sleep with I don't have parents send any from home. I have multiple sheets, blankets, and pillows that I have on hand for naps and resting periods. I have crib sheets for infants that fit the two pack-n-play cribs I have. The way I figure it, the more stuff I have for each baby the greater chance there is that it will get left behind, mixed up with another child's, or mixed up with my own things.

What are your main goals in parenting/education of kids?

I really struggle with this. I don't want to discipline my child to the point that I'm changing who she is. There are times that she's quite mischievous and does things that most parents would get mad at and discipline over, but I over look them. I don't budge on some things though, for example on respect, if she disrespects me, or anyone else, then she will get punished, usually by time out. And I'm teaching her that she does not have the right to hurt another person, physically or emotionally. I know in some areas that parents would think that I am too lax or let her get away with too much, but I recognize her own quirky, sweet personality. As far as critical thinking and problem solving, when she does something wrong, I will ask her what she could have done different and what she thinks she will do next time. Sometimes when we are out she will see kid throwing a tantrum or something (which of course she has done too) and when we get home she will tell me something about that kid and about what that kid could have done differently to not end up getting in so much trouble. I love her observation skills and reasoning ability!

I'm a deep down genuine, loving, and always see someone's inner person shine. I could care less what they have to offer on the outside(friends have asked me what on earth was I attracted to with the men I've dated). Am I the only one who feels this way? When a child is molested do they really need therapy in their adulthood? Isn't prayer enough?

I was molested by my babysitters brother who was a teen at the time and I don't reached Kindergarten yet. Everyday my babysitter would pick me up from school and take me to her house and when I'd get there one of her brothers (predator) was be so mean to me for the first few hours I was there. After a while he would play tag with me and chase me into the kitchen or anywhere where no one else was and pull out his privates and rub it all over me. I knew it was wrong or at least I thought it was wrong. I just know it seemed wrong. Anyhow this would happen on a daily basis and it got to the point where I would end up playing the same game with his younger brother who would've been his teens in a few years. I would chase his younger brother and try to pull out his privates and the younger brother would always reject me. Now my mother was working two jobs to support the family so I never blamed her and I never told her anything because I knew if I did it would cause a problem. A friend of mine in my adulthood asked me what could my mother have done differently back then that I feel would've made me feel comfortable enough to tell her. I don't think my mother could have done anything more than what she did do. I mean my mother taught me all of right from wrong and she was protective of me. My mother is a single parent and my father, although I know of him, I've never met him before. As a 26 yr old adult I can say that I turned out pretty darn well however, my relationships, although long-term have never really been successful. I can think of a many occions where I felt would diffuse situations, I ociated and love also even though I know the two aren't the same. I used to feel like the guys that I was with would only really want me for ual reasons. I'm not promiscuous but in my relationships I did feel that is what kept the man around for a longer period of time, and I felt that's what kept me around longer than I needed to be in a relationship. At first I blamed my first long term boyfriend of 6 years (ages 13-19) because he impressed a lot of brainwashing ideals in my head. Then I started to blame the fact that my brother and my father weren't in my life to protect me and to show me the male perspective as to why I attract the same type of men or why I'm attracted to the same type of men. I used to think that it was because of my father's absence why my esteem although I put up a great front hasn't always been so high. I happen to tell my best friend about my childhood past and she said that my whole life makes sense to her now...The things I've done and do is due to my childhood past she said....I never thought of it that way. I hate to even use that **** as a crutch. As an adult I find myself clinging to those who really serve no positive purpose in my life and those who do, I don't take them seriously and end up pushing them away or keeping them at a distance. The crazy thing is I lived in the same apartment building in Brooklyn for 26 years and I see the family that did this to me every single day. I used to be cool with them up until last year. I would see the predator on a daily basis and I would wonder if he remembers what he did to me but I never asked. He has a daughter too and I worry for her sometimes. He unfortunately isn't the only pervert in the family. His father is one too. Now this is the part that confuses me. I'm a very ual person. I would play certain games that I though a lot of people do just for fun, and then tell my friends and laugh about it. For instance, the window of my apt faces the front of my building and I'd see the predators father outside my window and somehow I'd get his attention and I would flash him and tell my friends about it. We'd all joke about it. But when I would walk outside and I'd see him he would repulse me so bad because I'm like you known me since I was a baby, how could u be so enticed? I guess because I'm a woman now. But that's not it. This man sometimes fixes things in my apartment as he's known my family for so long and the superintendent of the building was never around when we needed him. One day I called him up to fix something in my apt. and I wore some short shorts that still covered what needed to be covered. I was laying on my bed watching tv and he would find little reasons for coming into my room. One instance he came in my room and grabbed my leg and whispered some perverse things in my ear and I can't really describe how I felt. I wanted to scream and get upset but didn't, I became really quiet like I was that little girl that his son used to molest. He performed on me and I let him without looking at him and at that point I felt disgusted with myself but at the same time I felt I have to tell my friends, this **** is crazy. I became really mute throughout the whole thing. I looked uncomfortable I felt uncomfortable but the act continued. He offered me money after that and

At best, I think Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez can make the quarters at Roland Garros, but I think Aravane Rezai will go even further in her country's grand slam. Don't count her out. Yes you are eatting too little. You will actually burn more calories if you eat more. You are supposed to have 5 small meals a day.. breakfast, mid-morning snack, lunch, mid afternoon snack, & dinner. I know you said you go to the gym right from work but the best thing to do would be to eat before working out, that way you have fuel to burn. If you eat when you get home that is fine too because your body is still going. Just be a bit more careful with what you eat afterwards because your body is like a sponge after working out. It will just absorb whatever you eat.

Negril vs. Playa Del Carmen?

My soon-to-be wife and I are looking for a honeymoon ins October. We were interested in Couples Swept Away in Negril, Jamaica until we went to see a travel agent. She showed us some amazing resorts in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico. Now we are unsure about our honeymoon. There are great deals right now on trips to Mexico due to the economy and the swine flu media frenzy. My question is, are we better to go to the glamorous, big, fancy resorts in Playa Del Carmen or go the the modest, quiet resort in Negril. We will be spending ten days and mostly hang out on the beach and do a few activities. We are worried about being underwhelmed at CSA. We could get a much nicer room in PDC however I have heard that Negril is nicer and more romantic. Any opinion is welcome, we are really stuck and want to make the right choice. Does the food in Negril compare to PDC? Also we have been to Cancun before and want to stay away from the Spring break vacationers , from what I have heard PDC is nothing like Cancun. We would also like to have the option to see shows at night-time. I have also heard that the "boutique" hotels in PDC require that you get up early to secure a good spot on the beach (under a Pallapa) and are more complicated when it comes to dinner reservations. What do you suggest? We definetly want to have the best time possible.

If there is one thing I have learnt it is to be supportive of my hubby when faced with a family like this, I do not comment on his family, am supportive if he wants to visit, when he wants to rant and rave I sit and listen. As I have often thought it is bad enough when he has to listen to the whining and bitching and definitely doesn't need to listen to mine about them as well. I think you have to take time to think like you are doing now, find something else besides a guy to occupy your time and then once you are okay with you then go find a guy that is all yours. You were very jealous of a man you could not have. When you went and told his girlfriend that wasn't for her that was for you in hopes to win him over that's really not cool. Also just because you think you guys were meant to be together doesn't mean he sees it that way. People will do what you allow them to and that is exactly what the guy did... next just make sure you are getting out of it what you want or need and you should have no issues letting him go. But don't go after a man who is taken that should have been immediate flag to move on.
