What is a wildlife corridor?

Wildlife corridors are areas of natural habitat connecting wildlife populations separated by human activities (such as roads, development, etc.) These corridors are important so that populations will not be separated and will be able to breed. If no corridor exists you will end up with two separate populations having very little genetic diversity since they will have a limited number of mates. If both populations can reach each other they will have greater genetic diversity which is good for a species and will make it less prone to disease, viruses, etc. The more diverse a species is..the less prone to extinction it will be.
