Do you ever feel like people are only attracted to what's on the outside and nothing on the inside?

I'm a deep down genuine, loving, and always see someone's inner person shine. I could care less what they have to offer on the outside(friends have asked me what on earth was I attracted to with the men I've dated). Am I the only one who feels this way? I'm starting to feel like if I was just superficial and had no depth, then cruising through life would be a lot easier with less emotional heartache. You never get hurt if you only invest in the outside.... is that why people don't get to know people deep down? Commitment issues, fear of intimacy, or just general lack of interest in others? What's your opinion?
