How to clean a stainless steel hip flask?

After filling it with wine, I cleaned my stainless steel Sigg bottle out by filling it with hot water and a little dish soap, shaking it vigorously, and then rinsing it until what came out was water rather than foam. I can't say whether or not it would work the same for brandy, but it's probably worth a try.
